Prisoner Wine Co works with a family of growers to source a diverse variety of grapes from premier vineyards throughout California. They started Saldo as a way to make a Zin-focused wine from fruit that doesn't make the cut for their famed Prisoner Blend but is too good to pass up. Always Zin-driven, Saldo is aged in a combination of French and American oak barrels, 25% new and displays bold aromas of black licorice, black pepper, cherry, and baking spice. The palate is rich, full and smooth with a hint of chocolate. Soft, velvety tannins linger in the finish.
