Every harvest, he scouts out Napa grapes high-end wineries couldn’t quite take and barrels that just missed the cut for their prestige bottlings. And them makes wines like this that deliver all the quality and satisfaction of the big boys and a much, much, better price.

Like this stunner that opens with bold aromas of black currant, wild herb, graphite, cocoa powder and more. Intensely concentrated and deep, the rich currant/berry, cassis cocoa, herb and crushed rock flavors completely saturate your palate. Then classic Howell Mountain tannins – fine, firm, and nicely polished during their stay in French oak – provide freshness and food-friendly support. Excellent wine to drink tonight with a steak or lamb and built to improve 8-10 years more.
